Pointe-à-Callières Museum
Pointe-à-Callières Museum
Located on one of the most important archaeological sites of Ville-Marie, the project includes, among other things, the restoration of the oldest sewage main in Montreal, the transformation of the William collector into a pedestrian path between the different phases of the Museum, which necessitates the stabilization of its vaults, the dismantling and reconstruction of the abutments, and the re-pointing of 3,500 square metres of stone. The construction of a new 4000 square metre Gold rated LEED pavilion is also part of this project. This pavilion features glass floors providing a view of the intrinsic remains of the site, and venues for the different exhibitions hosted by the museum. Work was performed under archaeological supervision and was adapted according to the different conditions encountered, in particular the discovery of buried objects and the quality of the soil.
